Being allowed to travel with a stroller does not mean it will be waiting beside the aircraft at every connection. Plan the transfer as a series of handoffs: first airline, arrival airport, onward carrier and final destination.

Separate acceptance from transfer access

Air India’s checked-baggage page says infants are entitled to one collapsible stroller, carrycot or infant car seat, while its infant-travel page says strollers are not allowed on the flight. Those statements do not establish cabin stowage or delivery at the aircraft door. Confirm how your stroller will be carried and where it will actually be returned for each segment, especially with another operating airline.

Ask the first carrier what the tag will do

Confirm whether the stroller is tagged to the connection or final destination and whether you can use it during the stop. Ask where it is surrendered and whether it must be collected with baggage. A through tag on a suitcase does not answer the stroller question. Keep the stroller receipt and any transfer instruction.

Get a return point for the connecting airport

Ask whether retrieval is at the aircraft, jet bridge, a special-baggage point or baggage reclaim. Confirm whether that point is before or after passport control and whether you are permitted and able to reach it on your transit route. Do not leave an international transit area merely to look for a stroller without checking the immigration and onward-boarding implications.

Confirm the next carrier’s handover

If the stroller is returned, ask where to give it back for the onward flight and how much time that adds. If it is not returned, ask the airport whether a loan stroller is offered, where it is collected and returned, and any eligibility or availability conditions. This guide does not promise that loan equipment exists. Plan a safe way to manage the child and bags without a stroller during the transfer.

Handle changes and missing delivery promptly

After a late arrival, terminal change or replacement flight, recheck the stroller tag and handoff with both carriers. If the promised return does not happen, contact the responsible staff before moving beyond the collection area and keep the record. At the final destination, confirm the actual return point again. This connection guide is distinct from the initial check-in and stroller-battery packing checklist.

Quick questions

Does a stroller allowance guarantee aircraft-door return? No. Confirm the actual return point.

Can I assume access during an international transit? No. Confirm the tag and reachable collection point.
