What was actually being offered

Indian tourists booking Abu Dhabi holidays could get a UAE entry visa completely free, saving roughly AED 285 (about ₹6,500) per traveller. The scheme ran from 1 August to 31 October 2026 and was capped at up to 20,000 visas in the pilot period.

Who actually qualified

To get the free visa while the offer ran, your booking needed to include:

• A minimum three consecutive nights in an Abu Dhabi hotel
• A return flight departing from India
• The whole thing booked through a participating travel partner or online travel agency - not directly with the airline or hotel, and not through the standard UAE visa portal

It was a tourism promotion covering the visa cost for eligible Abu Dhabi holidays - never a general visa-free entry announcement, and separate UAE tourist visa and visa-on-arrival rules applied outside the scheme throughout.

Why Abu Dhabi did this

It was a numbers play, not charity. Indians make up the UAE's largest expat community, and Abu Dhabi alone is home to roughly 800,000 Indian residents, which makes India one of its most important inbound tourism markets.
