A resort can still advertise a pool, spa or restaurant while a renovation notice changes what guests can actually use. Before booking a Phuket stay, confirm the facilities and guest routes for the exact nights, not only the room category or the photos.

A current official example, not a rule for every resort
Checked on 5 November 2026, the official Marriott page for The Westin Siray Bay Resort & Spa, Phuket carries a Resort Renovation Notice: major works are underway with significant impact to facilities and public areas, with several facilities and outlets temporarily closed, relocated or using adjusted services and hours.
The same page still has a general amenities list. Individual headings say Seasonal Tastes, Horizon Pool Bar, Mix Lounge, Splash Pool and Horizon Pool will be closed from 1 June 2026. The retrieved notice does not establish a completion or reopening date. Treat it as a reason to request a date-specific update, not proof that every facility is closed or that a listed alternative is available.
This is one named property's published notice. It does not establish renovation at other Phuket hotels, actual noise at a particular room, or the status of a future stay. We have not confirmed the operating arrangements directly with the resort.
Ask what you can use, where and when
For each facility that matters, ask whether it is open on every night of the stay, where it is located and what hours or restrictions apply. If a restaurant has moved, check where an included breakfast is served and whether the booking's meal plan still works there. If a pool is closed, ask which alternative is open and whether access is included. A nearby alternative is not automatically equivalent.
For parents or anyone who needs to limit walking, ask about the actual room-to-breakfast, lobby and transport routes, including steps, slopes, lifts and any temporary detour. Do not infer step-free access or an easy route from a general accessibility label. Request photos or a clear route description where useful, then decide whether it suits the traveller.
Separate the room request from the noise answer
Ask which wings are affected, the planned work days and hours, and whether works can be heard or seen from the proposed room and shared areas. A high floor, sea view or request for a quiet room does not establish distance from the works. Ask what is confirmed for the allocated category and what remains only a request.
A planned finish date is not a guarantee of completion. If the trip depends on a particular facility, ask when its reopening was last confirmed and whether the hotel can provide a current written update before the cancellation deadline.
Read the change terms before paying
Check the complete price, meal inclusions, payment timing and the actual rate's cancellation or change conditions. Ask what options apply if the facility you are booking for stays closed or the work schedule changes. Do not assume a free move, refund, room upgrade or compensation; none is established by this article.
If booked through an organiser, send the hotel response to the organiser and confirm who must arrange any change. Keep the booking description and written answers with the confirmation. A Phuket trip card below does not promise this named hotel, a particular facility, or a renovation-free stay; the offered itinerary and hotel must be confirmed separately.
