The stop is not confirmed here
For a domestic arrival at Chennai followed by an international departure, do not head to a guessed shuttle bay. The current exact boarding point, operating hours, fare, vehicle eligibility and terminal assignment are unconfirmed in this review. Show both flights and your arrival location to airport or airline staff and ask for the service running now.
Why the airport pages are not a live stop map
AAI's conveniences page lists battery-operated vehicles and courtesy coaches for domestic/international transfers. A separate AAI rail-transport page says inter-terminal shuttles and carts have been routed through the Metro station. Neither page supplied a visible dated operational version establishing today's bay or route. These are attributed descriptions, not permission to take a particular vehicle or a promise of a free ride. A city bus stop, Metro entrance and airport transfer pickup are not interchangeable destinations.
Before leaving the domestic arrival area
Read the actual arriving flight and terminal, onward operating airline, international flight number/date and its current terminal. Ask whether your connection has a confirmed carrier-handled route or requires a different departure process. Do not choose a terminal just from domestic or international labels. Have the onward ticket and any issued pass ready to show without handing over your account password.
Ask for the complete pickup instruction
Our suggested question: “I am at this domestic arrival exit, connecting to this international flight. Which transfer service can I use now, what exact level/door/bay is its pickup, and where does it drop me?” Ask staff to point to the route on a current airport map or walk you to the right assistance handover. Record the pickup landmark, destination and any charge. Do not use an old photo or a generic Metro direction as proof of the stop.
For parents, include the step between the doors
Ask about the walk to pickup, steps or lift, wheelchair boarding, room for bags and who helps if the vehicle does not run. Confirm whether the current assistance team goes to the vehicle and who receives the parent at the other end. A vehicle listing does not establish accessible boarding, staff availability or baggage acceptance. Avoid leaving a parent alone at an unconfirmed stop while the family searches elsewhere.
The vehicle is only one part of the connection
Ask the onward airline what remains: boarding-pass validation or check-in, bag acceptance, departure formalities, security and gate route for this booking. A tag or issued pass alone is not proof that all tasks are complete. Confirm current counter and gate deadlines with the carrier; this guide supplies no minimum safe gap, walking time or shuttle frequency.
If no service is running
Stay with your bags at an identified staffed point and tell the onward airline if the connection is becoming tight. Ask airport staff for an authorised alternative route, accessibility and cost before moving. Do not assume a staff-only entrance is a shortcut or cross traffic lanes to reach a vehicle. A taxi or independent ride is a separate paid choice, not an automatic airport replacement.
Sources and limits
AAI conveniences and rail-transport pages were reviewed on4November2026. Their lack of a visible dated operational version is why this guide does not publish an exact bay or turn-by-turn terminal map. Actual terminals, service route, hours, charges and connection handling must be confirmed for the journey.
