Colombo Fort, a Colombo hotel and Makubura are different destinations for a transfer. Start with the exact place you need, particularly if you have an onward train. A bus labelled airport-city does not automatically deliver you to the station entrance or your hotel's door.
Fort bus versus Makubura bus
Bandaranaike Airport's official ground-transport page lists the 187 Airport-Colombo Fort luxury bus via the Colombo-Katunayake Expressway. It separately describes a bus to Makubura Multimodal Transport Center.
The page gives the arrival outer porch opposite the Buddha statue as a boarding point for the Makubura service. Do not copy that pickup instruction onto the Fort bus without confirmation. Ask airport staff for the actual Fort service, its boarding point, next departure and where you will get off.
Airport taxi: use the listed counters
The airport says its supervised Airport Taxi Service operates counters in the Arrival Lobby and arrival porch. Give the exact Fort address or hotel entrance and obtain the full quote before accepting the journey.
Count passengers and suitcases together. A car category alone does not guarantee space for a large group, a child seat or a mobility aid. Ask for the actual requirement and get confirmation. This guide does not quote a fixed Fort fare or guaranteed road time.
App ride: follow your booking, not another queue
The airport lists Uber and PickMe among its transport options, but the retrieved page does not establish a precise pickup bay for every app booking. Use the actual app's meeting instructions and verify the driver and vehicle.
If the car is not where expected, stay with the airport's public-area arrangements and contact the provider. A taxi-counter location is not proof of the app pickup, and another passenger's meeting point may not be yours.
Leave room for the Fort end
If you have a train from Colombo Fort, check the exact station, departure and ticket conditions separately. A bus or taxi transfer does not establish protection for a missed train. Add arrival formalities, waiting, road traffic and finding the platform.
The airport page does not establish an all-night Fort bus or a current bus fare. For a late arrival, confirm what is actually operating and keep a suitable fallback. If the destination is a hotel rather than the station, save its entrance and late check-in instructions offline.
