Do not plan this journey around a phone display alone. Vietnam Airlines' Delhi-to-Vietnam page says that once the e-visa is approved, travellers should print "a copy of the visa approval letter" for airline check-in and immigration on arrival. This is a named carrier and journey example, not a rule that every country rejects every digital visa. Vietnam Airlines: Delhi to Vietnam.

1. Before the airport, separate the application from the visa

A payment receipt, application number or submitted form is not the granted permission. Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security procedure separates submitting the application, paying the fee and checking the result. Its result step says to check and print the eVisa if granted. Use that sequence, not a payment email, to decide whether you have the document for travel. MPS: result procedure (undated).

2. Retrieve the result through the current official route

The current official eVisa website links to its application-status search. When checked on 28 October 2026, that search asked for the eVisa application number, email, date of birth and security code. Follow the live prompts; labels can change. Keep the application details private and use the government route rather than a paid lookalike. Official application-status search.

3. Check the issued permission against the passport

Read the actual granted document, not only the acknowledgement. Our practical suggestion: compare the traveller details and passport number with the passport you will carry, then read the permission dates and entry conditions. A printout does not fix a wrong detail or extend a visa. If the result is unavailable or anything differs, use the official support route before relying on it for travel. Official eVisa support.

4. Follow the carrier's "visa approval letter" instruction

Vietnam Airlines' Delhi-to-Vietnam guidance uses the words "a copy of the visa approval letter" after e-visa approval, for check-in and arrival immigration. Separately, the Ministry of Public Security result step says to check and print the eVisa if granted; this is why an application or payment receipt is not the granted result. Do not assume the carrier's wording means a visa-on-arrival process. Keep it readable and accessible with the original passport. Save an offline digital copy as a practical backup, but do not treat that backup as evidence that a phone-only presentation will meet this carrier's instruction. Vietnam Airlines: Delhi to Vietnam. MPS: result procedure (undated).

5. Recheck your actual flight and any onward journey

Ask the operating airline about the document instructions for the actual booking and every connection. This guide does not decide visa eligibility, passport-validity rules, allowed entry ports, the permitted stay or the documents for another country. It gives no approval-time or boarding guarantee. For this named example, follow the carrier's quoted print instruction and obtain the granted result through the official route; a submitted-application screenshot does not establish approval.

AI illustration: Fictional print-preparation still life. The blank paper and plain booklet are not an actual eVisa, passport, application or official portal.

Questions on this article

asked by readers, answered by us

Can I use only my phone to show the approved eVisa on this journey?

Do not plan on that. Vietnam Airlines' Delhi-to-Vietnam page says to print "a copy of the visa approval letter" once the e-visa is approved, for check-in and arrival immigration. Separately, the Ministry of Public Security result step says to check and print the eVisa if granted; an application receipt is not that granted result. The carrier wording does not establish a visa-on-arrival process.

Where can I check the result now?

Use the application-status search linked by the current official evisa.gov.vn website. Follow its live prompts and keep the application details private.

Does this mean every country bans digital visa copies?

No. This is a named Vietnam Airlines Delhi-to-Vietnam example. Check the requirements for your actual permission, airline and route.
