Find the right arrivals exit for your driver: terminal, level, landmark

An arrivals door is not always the vehicle pickup point. Agree the terminal, level and landmark, then follow your actual airport or booking instructions.

“I am outside arrivals” is often too vague for a driver or relative to find you. An airport can have several doors, levels and vehicle lanes. Before leaving a clear meeting point, agree exactly where the traveller and car can meet.

Finish the arrival route first

Delhi Airport’s arriving-passenger guide directs travellers to follow exit signs after the applicable arrival formalities and baggage collection. Use those current signs. An exit-door number identifies a door; it does not by itself establish where a taxi or booked vehicle is allowed to wait.

If you are unsure, stop at an information desk before going outside. Delhi T 1 lists information desks with visual maps and guidance on airport facilities and transport. Ask specifically for the pickup for your type of ride, not simply the nearest exit.

Agree one precise meeting description

Tell the driver the actual arrival terminal and level, the signed door or pillar you can see, and whether you are still indoors. Read the label rather than guessing it from an old message. If you need to move, agree the new place before walking away.

For an app ride, use the designated pickup shown in the actual booking. For a prebooked transfer, check whether the service includes an inside meet-and-greet or a vehicle pickup outside. A signboard arrangement and a parked-car location are not the same promise.

Use the vehicle details, not only a name

At the agreed pickup, compare the vehicle and driver details with the booking. If someone approaches you but the details do not match, contact the operator through the booking route rather than treating knowledge of your destination as proof.

Do not step into a traffic lane to make yourself visible. If luggage, rain or mobility needs make the assigned point difficult, ask airport staff or the operator for a permitted alternative. This guide does not establish that a car can stop at every arrivals door.

When you cannot find each other

Stay at a clear staffed or signed place and send the precise location if you can. If phone data is unavailable, seek help from the information desk; do not keep circling different exits while the driver is also moving.

Before accepting another ride, settle the original booking with the operator and check the alternative’s full price. No universal free waiting period, cancellation policy or airport pickup charge is quoted here.

Quick questions

Is an exit door always a pickup bay? No. Check the actual permitted pickup.

What should I tell the driver? Actual terminal, level, signed landmark and whether you are indoors.

What if mobile data does not work? Ask at a staffed information point and keep one clear meeting location.

Is waiting free everywhere? No universal waiting policy is established here.
