Before handing clothes to a Hanoi hotel's laundry service, work backwards from when you need them back. “Laundry available” does not establish a pickup deadline, a return time, a price or a promise that the clothes will reach you before the next transfer.
Keep the clothes needed for the next journey out of the bag until the return arrangement is confirmed. A smaller laundry load with a clear handover can be more useful than sending everything at once.

Confirm both ends of the service
Ask the hotel what time it must receive the clothes and when they will be returned to your room or collection point. Give the actual checkout and pickup time, not only the calendar date. Ask whether the service runs that day, whether any holiday or weekend changes it, and what “same day” means for the order.
For one property-specific example, Fairmont Hanoi's official guest-services page says it offers same-day service for items received before 11:00 AM, with express service available on request at a surcharge. It says details, prices and turnaround times are provided in the guestroom. That is not a city-wide laundry deadline, an express-service guarantee or a quote for your stay. Reconfirm the actual return before handing over clothes.
Match the treatment to the garment
Separate washing, pressing and dry cleaning rather than assuming they are interchangeable. Show any care label or concern about colour, shrinkage, embroidery or delicate fabric to staff. Ask whether the item is accepted, what treatment will be used and whether the service is done on-site or sent away.
If an item is essential, delicate or difficult to replace, decide whether sending it is worth the uncertainty. Do not assume a garment that can be washed at home is accepted for the hotel's standard process. Keep the response with the handover record where useful.
Know what the charge covers
Ask whether pricing is per piece, weight, bag or another method, and how mixed garments are counted. Confirm taxes, express charges, pressing and any delivery charge before authorising the service. A laundry bag in the room is not evidence that washing is included in the room rate.
For a family order, separate each person's essentials and identify the actual items. Agree how any existing damage, stains or items the service cannot accept will be recorded. Keep a copy or photograph of the item count and receipt. Do not leave cash, documents or other belongings in pockets.
Leave room to check the return
When the clothes return, compare the count with the receipt and check their condition before packing them away. Report a missing, damp, damaged or incorrectly treated item promptly through the hotel's stated process. Ask who owns the follow-up if an outside laundry provider is involved.
Do not assume an automatic refund, a fixed compensation amount or a successful claim. Ask for the applicable terms and a written record of the issue. If you are leaving, confirm how the hotel will contact you and whether any later delivery is possible, to which address and at whose cost.
Make the final-night choice deliberately
If the return is not confirmed before departure, keep enough clean clothing for the next leg and choose a later laundry opportunity instead. Do not plan a handover of wet or unfinished clothes at the last minute. A self-service or outside laundry is another option only after you check its actual opening, process, cost and collection time.
The Trip Keeper planning check is simple: item count, treatment, total charge and a return deadline that fits your real pickup. Keep anything the provider has not accepted marked unconfirmed. A tour itinerary or hotel listing does not itself include laundry or establish who will pay for it.
