Jodhpur to Banswara: flight, train and road combinations that make sense

There is no direct official route page for Jodhpur to Banswara. The published pieces are Udaipur airport, Ratlam station and the road to town. Here is how to join them, and what to check before you book.

Banswara is in the far south of Rajasthan. Jodhpur is in the west. No official page gives a Jodhpur to Banswara route, so we will not invent one. We join the pieces that are published.

1. What the official pages say about getting to Banswara

  • Nearest airport is Udaipur Maharana Pratap Airport (UDR). The distance varies: 185 km on the Rajasthan Tourism page, about 165 km on the Incredible India destination page, and 164 km in the distance box on the Hindi Rajasthan Tourism page. Plan for the longer figure.
  • Nearest major railway station is Ratlam Junction (RTM), about 80 km from Banswara, with buses and taxis from Ratlam.
  • By road, Banswara links to Udaipur, Ratlam, Indore and Ahmedabad. RSRTC and private buses run frequent services (Incredible India).

2. Combinations that make sense

  • Jodhpur to Udaipur to Banswara. Reach Udaipur by whichever mode works for your date, then take a taxi or bus to Banswara. We did not verify Jodhpur to Udaipur schedules, so check them live. Rajasthan Tourism says the Jodhpur and Udaipur airports serve domestic flights only.
  • Jodhpur to Ratlam to Banswara. Ratlam is the better rail point for the final leg, at about 80 km. Check live train timings, we did not verify a Jodhpur to Ratlam train.
  • Road all the way. Possible, but the distance and drive time are not published. Ask a taxi operator for the exact distance and a fixed fare before you start.

3. Which to pick

If you value a short final transfer, Ratlam is the shorter leg at 80 km against Udaipur's 164 to 185 km. If you are flying, Udaipur is the airport the official pages name. Whichever you pick, leave a buffer before any fixed plan in Banswara, since the last leg is by road.

4. Check before you book

  • Live train and flight timings for your date.
  • The last bus or taxi from Ratlam or Udaipur on the day you arrive.
  • Taxi fare in writing before you leave the station or airport.
