Planning Marble Mountains and Ba Na Hills in one trip: timing, ticketing and hidden complications

Marble Mountains and Ba Na Hills in one Da Nang trip: why they belong on different days, 2026 ticket prices, and the complications nobody mentions.

Marble Mountains and Ba Na Hills are Da Nang's two mountain sights, and most itineraries squeeze them into one trip. Good. The mistake is squeezing them into one day. They sit in opposite directions, demand different energy, and punish different mistakes. Here is how to plan both cleanly.

First, the geography

Marble Mountains lie about 9 km southeast of the city, on the road toward Hoi An. Ba Na Hills rises about 40 km west. There is no sensible route that links them; every driver will quote them as separate half and full-day trips respectively.

Marble Mountains: a morning, not a day

Two to three hours cover it. Go at opening, 8:30 to 9:00 am, before the heat and the buses. The official Da Nang tourism portal prices Thuy Son entry at 40,000 VND, the Gate 2 elevator at 15,000 VND one way (30,000 return), and the optional Am Phu Cave at 20,000 VND. Take the elevator up, do Huyen Khong Cave and the viewpoints, walk down. It pairs naturally with a Hoi An afternoon or a beach half-day, since it sits on that road.

Ba Na Hills: give it the whole day

Sun World's 2026 list prices the adult ticket at 650,000 VND, children 1 to 1.4 m and visitors over 70 at 550,000 VND, free under 1 m, and a 2026 ticket can be upgraded to cover three consecutive days at the ticket office. The price buys the cable car up, the Golden Bridge, the French Village, gardens and Fantasy Park. Go at ropeway opening: queues build from late morning, and the Golden Bridge crowds after 8 am. Rain or low cloud on the summit is the one real gamble; check the morning forecast and keep the day movable if you can.

The hidden complications

  • Doing both in one day means a hot, rushed Marble Mountains and a half-priced-feeling Ba Na Hills. Split them.
  • Heat, not distance, is the constraint at Marble Mountains: midday stone steps radiate. Morning only.
  • Ba Na tickets are the trip's big line item: 1.3 million VND for two adults. The over-70 senior rate and the three-day upgrade both soften it.
  • Wheelchairs at Ba Na are free from the gate counter with a 2,000,000 VND deposit, first come first served; none are rentable at Marble Mountains.
  • Weekends and Vietnamese holidays stretch every queue at both.

A clean arrangement

Day A: Marble Mountains 8:30 to 11:30 am, lunch, beach. Day B: Ba Na Hills, ropeway opening to mid-afternoon. Our Ba Na Hills transport guide covers getting there, the senior accessibility guide details the walking, and the 3-day itinerary slots both into a trip.

Questions on this article

asked by readers, answered by us

Can you do Marble Mountains and Ba Na Hills in one day?

It is possible but rushed and tiring. Marble Mountains needs a two to three hour morning and Ba Na Hills a full day, and they lie in opposite directions from Da Nang. Separate days work far better.

Which should you visit first, Marble Mountains or Ba Na Hills?

Pair Marble Mountains with a Hoi An or beach day since it sits on that road, about 9 km southeast. Give Ba Na Hills its own day and arrive when the cable car opens.

What do Marble Mountains and Ba Na Hills tickets cost?

Marble Mountains (Thuy Son) entry is 40,000 VND plus 30,000 VND for the return elevator. Ba Na Hills at 2026 published prices is 650,000 VND per adult and 550,000 VND for visitors over 70.
