- Monsoon
- Rann is under water (Incredible India)
- Winter
- Salt crystals appear as water recedes. Festival runs about Dec to Mar (Incredible India)
- Exact dates 2026-27
- Gujarat Tourism page still shows 2025-26. Check again
- Temperatures
- Official pages disagree. Use a live forecast
Winter is the Rann's season, but "November to February" hides real differences between the months. The honest answer is to separate what is official, what is stale and what you should check live.
1. What the official page says
- Incredible India says the Rann of Kutch is hidden under water in the monsoon, and that salt-caked dunes emerge with a fresh covering of crystals when the water recedes.
- It says the Rann Utsav runs from December to March in Dhordo, and spans about three months.
- It calls a weekend at the Gujarat Tourism tent city worthwhile, and says many visitors choose a weekend, using the rest of the time to explore.
2. What is stale
Gujarat Tourism's Rann Utsav page, when we checked, still listed 23 November 2025 to 20 February 2026, with the tent city until 4 March 2026. That is last season. Other sites quote 2026-27 dates, but we could not tie them to Gujarat Tourism, so we do not repeat them. Re-check the Gujarat Tourism page before you book.
3. Why there is no temperature table
The Incredible India pages for Bhuj and Kutch show temperature ranges that do not line up with each other, so we are not printing any. Use a live forecast for your week. Carry layers anyway.
4. Month by month, what is safe to say
- November: Early in the season. The salt is drying after the monsoon, so confirm access and festival dates.
- December and January: The festival runs. Book early.
- February: Still in season on the 2025-26 pattern. Dates change by year.
5. What to book first
- The stay, since the tent city is the main draw.
- The Bhuj leg: train seats or flights.
- A car for the 81 km to Dhordo.
- Then the White Rann permit, which Gujarat Tourism says is online at rannpermit.gujarat.gov.in. We could not load it today, so check its rules.
