Varanasi airport to the ghats: confirm the last walking or boat leg
A taxi to “the ghats” is not a complete hotel arrival plan. Name the ghat and property, then confirm where the road leg ends and how people and bags reach reception.

Name the destination beyond “ghats”
Give the driver the booked property and the hotel’s current arrival instructions. Ask the hotel for the exact car drop, walking distance, surface, steps and luggage help. A riverfront map pin cannot tell you whether the approach suits a traveller with limited mobility, especially after a long flight.
Do not turn an airport bus into a door-to-ghat service
AAI’s Varanasi transport page lists a route through Harhua, Bhojubeer, Kachahari, JHV Mall and Cantt Railway Station before continuing onward. That list is not a promise of a stop at your ghat hotel. Its timetable should not be copied as a live departure guarantee. Check present operation and include the separate final transfer when comparing bus and taxi.
A hotel boat suggestion needs its own confirmation
BrijRama Palace, on Darbhanga Ghat, says on its own page that the best way to reach that property is by boat from Assi Ghat or Namo Ghat and lists airport transfers as a service. This is a property-specific example, not a rule for every ghat. Ask whether your booking includes the car-to-boarding-point leg, boat, landing and bag assistance, and whether those arrangements are operating on your date.
Ask what boarding and landing actually involve
Before choosing a boat approach, ask about the steps, gap into the boat, handholds, life jackets and assistance at both ends. Confirm the alternative if weather, river conditions or local instructions prevent that service. A boat can change the approach without removing all steps; do not describe it as wheelchair-accessible without a route-specific answer.
Do not stack an arrival with a fixed ceremony promise
Keep the first arrival focused on reaching the hotel and settling bags. If you want an evening outing, ask separately about current access and the return meeting point. A taxi arrival estimate does not establish a ceremony seat, unobstructed river access or a safe return route after crowds build.
Questions before you travel
Does “ghat drop” mean the hotel door?
No. Obtain the exact road endpoint and remaining approach.
Does BrijRama’s boat advice apply to all hotels?
No. It describes that property and still needs date-specific confirmation.
Does a boat remove every step?
Not necessarily. Check boarding and landing separately.
