Wrong contact email on an issued flight booking? Confirm the saved address, not just a resent ticket

Check which email record needs changing, use a verified airline or booking-provider route, and confirm the contact saved for each passenger and flight segment.

If the email address on an issued flight booking is wrong, first identify the exact record that needs changing. Editing a login profile, forwarding a ticket and changing the booking's contact email are different tasks. Treat the job as unfinished until the airline or booking provider confirms what was saved for the actual journey.

Identify the email and the booking

Keep the booking reference, ticket receipt, passenger names and journey segments available privately. Write down the old email as shown and the replacement address carefully. For a parent's booking, agree who should receive updates and get their permission before replacing their contact with yours.

  • Is this the contact for flight updates on the booking?
  • Is it a website login or loyalty-account email?
  • Is it only the address used to receive a forwarded ticket or invoice?
  • Are there separate bookings for the outbound, return or connecting journeys?

Do not assume that changing one changes all the others. Ask which record is being updated and which passengers and segments it covers.

Start from a verified airline or booking-provider route

Open the airline's official website or app yourself, or use the provider through which the ticket was issued. Look for the relevant booking and contact-details help. Do not enter a PNR, password or code into a link supplied by an unsolicited caller. If the booking was made by an agent, ask the agent and airline who can handle this particular contact correction.

Air India's journey-notifications FAQ and IndiGo's contact-update page are linked below as official places to investigate. No publication or revision date was established for their relevant instructions. This guide therefore does not confirm a universal online-edit procedure, required verification, fee, cutoff or completion time. Adding a missing contact and replacing an existing one may require different questions; ask which task applies to your booking.

A precise request saves a second conversation

"Please check the contact email recorded for this booking. I want to replace the existing address, not change the passenger name, flight or account login. Which passengers and flight segments will the change cover? What verification is needed, is there any fee, and how will I know the new address has been saved? Please confirm who will receive future journey updates."

Provide booking details only in the verified private channel. If asked for payment or documents, check the purpose and total before agreeing. Do not cancel or rebook a flight just because a contact field is hard to edit; ask for the specific next step first.

Check the result, not only the request

  1. Ask for the recorded replacement address to be confirmed, with spelling checked.
  2. Confirm whether it covers all intended passengers and segments, or only one booking record.
  3. Ask whether the old address remains on any notification list and whether another provider or operating airline needs a separate update.
  4. Where available, reopen the booking or request a confirmation through the new address. A resent itinerary alone does not prove the booking's contact field changed.
  5. Keep the request reference, time and response. If the update is pending, record who owns the next step rather than marking it complete.

If you cannot access the old inbox

Tell the verified support team that clearly and ask what alternative identity or booking verification they accept. Do not guess an OTP, send your email password or share recovery codes. The accepted recovery route is unconfirmed here. If departure is close, explain that and ask what to do while the contact correction remains unresolved.

Keep a backup for travel day

Until the change is confirmed, check the actual booking and current flight information through official channels rather than relying only on an inbox alert. Agree with your parent or travel companion who checks updates and who can be reached. Do not treat email delivery, a profile change or a successful support request as a guarantee that every operational message will arrive.

Quick questions

Does changing my account email update an issued flight booking?

Do not assume it does. Ask which record changed and confirm the contact saved for the actual booking, passengers and segments.

Can I replace the email online after ticket issue?

The current route for your ticket is unconfirmed here. Start with the official airline or issuing provider and ask whether you are adding a contact or replacing an existing one, what verification is needed and whether any fee applies.

Does receiving a resent ticket prove the email was changed?

No. It shows delivery of that copy. Ask for confirmation of the contact stored on the booking and who receives future journey updates.

What if I cannot access the old inbox?

Tell verified support and ask which alternative verification route they accept. Do not share email passwords or recovery codes. Keep the request open until the airline confirms the saved contact.
