AI illustration: A fictional traveller asks airline staff for boarding-pass help after a phone fails; not a guaranteed reprint service. Fictional scene, not an actual location, person or service.
An inaccessible pass is an immediate airport problem, not a reason to try an unverified gate shortcut. Find the staffed airline route while there is still time.
Tell staff what has failed
If the phone has switched off, tell airport or airline staff that you cannot display the boarding pass. Keep your accepted original ID or passport ready and identify the flight and booking reference if available. Ask for the airline’s staffed check-in or service desk rather than joining an unrelated queue. Identity and travel-document checks still apply.
Use the operating airline’s actual process
Air India’s domestic check-in page says passengers using mobile check-in can collect a boarding pass from its airport counters. It also describes self-check-in kiosks at some airports for domestic flights. This is an Air India example, not a guarantee that any kiosk can reprint any airline’s pass or that a counter will reopen after its deadline.
State where you are in the airport
Before security, ask the airline how to obtain a usable pass for that booking. If already airside, ask airline or airport staff where the appropriate service point is before leaving the secure area. Do not assume you can walk back through security or that a screenshot sent to another person is accepted for your own checkpoint.
Protect the time that remains
Tell staff the departure time and whether the gate has already been announced. A phone failure does not pause check-in or boarding. Ask what can still be done under the actual flight’s deadlines; this guide gives no guaranteed recovery time. If a document check or pass reissue is needed, do not spend the remaining time trying chargers away from staff.
Reconfirm the flight after recovery
When a usable pass is issued, check the passenger, flight date and flight number, then use the current departure display or staff instruction for the gate. Recovering the pass is not recovery of a missed flight. Do not share booking references or identity-document images with strangers offering to fix the phone or ticket.
Questions before you travel
Can any airport kiosk print my pass?
No. Confirm the facility for the operating airline and your flight.
Can I leave security to get a new pass?
Ask staff before leaving the secure area.
Does a dead phone extend boarding time?
No. Ask the airline what remains possible before the actual deadline.
