“Zero baggage” can be an imprecise label. IndiGo’s published Lite fare is cabin-baggage-only, not permission to bring no luggage at all and not a free checked-bag fare. Read the actual product name before comparing the checkout total.

The included bag is a cabin bag
IndiGo’s Lite terms currently specify one cabin bag up to 7 kg, with dimensions 55×35×25 cm or 115 cm in combined dimensions. No free checked-in baggage is included. We use the specific Lite terms here rather than borrowing an additional personal-item allowance from a general baggage page. Confirm the current instructions for your booking before packing.
A seat on the flight is not a paid preferred seat
The Lite page says IndiGo auto-assigns seats at no cost, while preferred-seat selection, meals and checked baggage are separate purchases subject to the product terms and availability. Do not confuse paying to choose a seat with a requirement to buy a preferred seat before you can fly. Check the final booking screen for anything you choose to add.
Compare the whole trip, not just the first price
Make a simple comparison using the fare plus the checked baggage, seat and meal you actually want. Use current prices for the exact flight, passenger and sector, not a remembered airport fee. A cabin-only trip and a trip needing a checked suitcase may have different totals. This guide does not establish which fare is cheapest for every booking.
Adding baggage does not automatically upgrade the fare
The Lite page permits paid checked baggage after booking, subject to applicable rates and timing. Buying that add-on is not the same as moving into a higher fare family. Its terms also say that specified airport or onboard cabin upgrades do not change the original Lite baggage allowance. Get the baggage confirmation separately; do not assume an upgraded seat brings a checked suitcase.
Check eligibility before treating Lite as an option
The published product is for direct IndiGo-operated flights booked through its specified channels. Its exclusions include connecting flights, codeshares, infant travel, group bookings and specified special fare categories. A comparison must use the product actually offered for your trip. If you turn up with an unpurchased checked bag or an oversized cabin bag, charges and acceptance conditions can apply; reach the airport with time to resolve them before the relevant counters close.
Quick questions
Does zero checked baggage mean no cabin bag? Not for the IndiGo Lite product described here; it specifies a cabin allowance.
Must I pay for a preferred seat? The Lite page says seats can be auto-assigned without that purchase.
Does a cabin upgrade automatically add checked baggage? The Lite terms say the original baggage allowance continues for the specified upgrades.
