अपनी electric wheelchair लेकर उड़ना हो तो हर operating airline से actual chair और battery arrangement की approval process पूछें। केवल booking note में “one wheelchair” लिखना पूरा काम नहीं। Airport assistance और अपनी powered equipment की carriage अलग tasks हैं।
Guess नहीं, device file
IATA Battery-Powered Wheelchair and Mobility Aid Guidance 2026 regulations के लिए revised है और 1 जनवरी 2026 dated है। Operator Approval section airline approval और advance coordination बताता है। Appendix A maker/model, battery type, total weight, travel-ready dimensions, removable parts और handling instructions पूछता है।
Actual chair manual, battery label और manufacturer/supplier का answer दें। Replacement battery हो तो उसे भी identify करें। Label unclear हो तो maker से पूछें; appearance से chemistry या transport suitability न तय करें।
Battery inventory स्पष्ट दें
- Battery type और installed batteries की count।
- हर battery की maker rating, lithium-ion के लिए available Watt-hours सहित।
- Battery installed रहेगी, transport के लिए designed removable है या spare है।
- Relevant manufacturer documentation/instructions; 2026 IATA checklist lithium-ion के UN38.3 compliance के बारे में भी पूछता है।
February2023 IATA transport guidance battery type, lithium-ion Wh और removability advance information में बताता है। Loose battery/power-bank rule को पूरे chair पर लागू न करें। Actual mobility-aid arrangement airline से settle करें। यहां universal battery cap या किस bag में कौन-सी battery डालें, नहीं बताया गया।
Actual handling configuration
Installed batteries/accessories सहित total weight और travel configuration में length/width/height दें। Upright, folded या maker-approved removed-parts configuration, साफ बताएं। Catalogue की compact dimensions actual handover जैसी न हों तो वही न भेजें।
2026 IATA guidance aircraft door/cargo compartment में fit, connections सहित, check करने की वजह समझाता है। हर operating flight के लिए device/configuration check कराएँ। Schedule change के बाद एक airline/aircraft की approval दूसरे पर अपने आप लागू न मानें।
Manufacturer instructions, DIY wiring नहीं
Accidental activation रोकना, circuits isolate करना, required battery removal और freewheel mode के maker instructions दें। कौन कौन-सा step करेगा और handover पर staff को क्या चाहिए, पूछें। Wire न काटें, battery management bypass न करें और internet video से removal improvise न करें।
Controls समझा न सकें तो departure से पहले maker/airline से uncertainty clear कराएँ। Appendix A ऐसे cases में passenger, representative और manufacturer के साथ coordination कहता है। Agreed handover तक traveller के लिए chair usable रखें; घर पर disconnect करने की instruction नहीं।
Form receipt और approval अलग
Actual device approved है या नहीं, किन flights के लिए, कौन-सी information बाकी और handover/return arrangement क्या है, लिखित में पूछें। Submitted details और reply traveller/helper के पास रखें। Form upload, assistance code या generic wheelchair request अकेला इन questions का answer नहीं।
Airline pages/replies disagree करें तो specialist team को passages दिखाकर actual equipment/itinerary का answer लें। सबसे generous rule न चुनें। General industry guide boarding/carriage guarantee नहीं।
TripKeeper equipment handover
Device identity, battery inventory, maker instructions, travel-ready dimensions और airline reply एक file में रखें। Parent के पास केवल relative की phone-call memory न हो। Flight/aircraft बदले तो plan recheck करना है या नहीं पूछें; named helper follow-through करे।
यह powered-equipment information checklist है, airport wheelchair assistance request नहीं। Medical clearance, personal care, charges या compensation cover नहीं।
