There is no honest single price for an Indian couple's Jaffna trip without travel dates, departure city, room choice and number of nights. Build the budget from the whole journey for two people, then compare what changes. A cheap flight plus an unpriced transfer is not a finished budget.
Checked on 30 October 2026. This is a quote-based budget worksheet, not a claim that Jaffna costs a fixed number of rupees per day. No dated two-person flight-and-hotel basket was verified, and no invented low, mid or premium price band is supplied.
First fix what the budget includes
Write down your departure city, dates, nights, number of full days and route into Sri Lanka. For a Chennai-Jaffna arrival, compare the final direct-flight price for two with any Colombo alternative including the onward journey. IndiGo advertises the direct route, but a destination page is not a fare for your date.
Count the nights rather than assuming that a three-day visit means three hotel nights. Include transport from home to the Indian airport, arrival and return transfers in Sri Lanka, and any extra night forced by the route. Keep the return journey in the calculation; it is not a surprise optional extra.
The entry-cost line: currently free ETA, not no application
The official Sri Lanka ETA notice says that from 25 May 2026 Indian nationals are among those eligible for a free-of-charge 30-day tourist ETA. It still requires ETA before arrival. Therefore the government tourist ETA charge under that stated scheme is zero for eligible Indian travellers, not a reason to skip the application.
Check your nationality, passport and purpose against the current official rules. A private agent's service fee, insurance, a different visa purpose or an extension is not the same thing as this government ETA charge. The notice says extensions beyond 30 days can carry the applicable fee. Do not copy an older paid-tourist-ETA figure into this budget.
A worksheet that does not hide the missing quotes
- Flights for two: final return or multi-city total, baggage, seat choices if wanted and payment fees. Record currency and cancellation/change terms.
- Accommodation: one double/twin room for the actual nights, total tax-inclusive price, meal plan and refund conditions. Do not multiply a per-person rate as though it were per room.
- Arrival and departure transfers: both directions, vehicle total, luggage and waiting. A city hotel name is not an exact pickup or drop-off pin.
- Local travel: point-to-point rides or a driver day, including mileage/time limits, parking and extra-hour charges if applicable.
- Meals: count breakfasts not included, lunches, dinners, water and snacks for both people. Use the actual restaurant or hotel menu and check taxes/service charges.
- Visits and activities: verified admission or guide charges for the stops you choose. A sightseeing page without a tariff does not prove free entry.
- Other costs: insurance, connectivity, exchange/payment charges and a reserve chosen for your own flexibility.
On each quote write the date checked, currency, people covered, inclusions, expiry and cancellation cost. A blank line means not yet priced, not zero. Keep optional upgrades separate so the base total remains comparable.
Do not use the wrong offer or the wrong airport
Jetwing's public offer list distinguishes resident offers from other promotions. An Indian passport does not by itself establish Sri Lankan resident-offer eligibility. Its public Jaffna hotel page describes rooms for two adults, but that description does not establish a tax-inclusive room quote for your nights. Use a rate that actually accepts your dates, occupancy and eligibility.
TheTaxi advertises JAF airport transfers, including Nallur, but its public counter page does not supply a verified route-specific total for this worksheet. Ask for a written quote in LKR. Do not import a Colombo airport fare into a Palaly pickup. For a route via Colombo, price the full onward transport chain separately rather than pretending both airports are interchangeable.
Convert currencies only after you have the right totals
Keep LKR, INR and any USD prices in separate columns first. The Central Bank of Sri Lanka labels its daily indicative table as LKR per one unit of the foreign currency. It describes these as indicative rates derived at the beginning of the business day. Its other buy/sell page concerns commercial-bank telegraphic-transfer quotes. Neither description promises the cash rate or final card statement you will receive.
If a verified rate is R LKR per INR, an LKR total divided by R gives its indicative INR equivalent. Do not multiply by R in that direction. A USD quote needs the corresponding conversion, not an INR shortcut. Add your provider's actual fee or spread, and record the date. No numeric exchange rate is frozen into this article.
Compare budget levels by changing choices, not inventing local prices
Lower-spend version: compare simpler rooms, included breakfasts, fewer paid rides and fewer optional stops, using real current quotes. Check whether a saving creates an awkward extra transfer or non-refundable booking.
Middle version: compare a room and transfers that suit your preferred comfort, then price the specific outings and meals. The label does not justify a guessed daily allowance.
Higher-comfort version: price the larger room, more private transport or more flexible cancellation you actually want. Keep those extras visible so you can remove them without rebuilding the whole budget.
The finished trip total is flights plus the stay plus both-end transfers, local travel, meals, visits, other charges and your chosen reserve, all converted on a stated basis. Before paying, replace every unpriced line with a confirmed quote or deliberately remove that item. That is the point where a travel budget stops being a nice-looking blank cheque.
