Start with the exact arrival and departure terminals, including the letter within terminal 2. Then check whether your airline expects you to remain in the flight-transfer area or collect bags and enter the public area. A terminal-shuttle map alone does not answer immigration or visa questions.
Understand what CDGVAL connects
RATP lists five CDGVAL stops: Terminal 1, PR parking, Terminal 3-Roissypole, PX parking and Terminal 2. It is free and connects the terminal areas, rail stations and parking facilities. Terminal 3-Roissypole is also the link for the Charles de Gaulle 1 RER station.
Do not confuse Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 1 rail station with the terminal 1 building. RATP's terminal 1 guide directs RER passengers to CDG 1 then CDGVAL to terminal 1. Terminal 2 has its own RER/TGV station, but the last walk still depends on your hall.
Terminal 2G is a separate step
RATP directs passengers for 2G to the free N2 shuttle from terminal 2F. The CDGVAL Terminal 2 stop does not put you inside 2G. Read your flight's full terminal label and follow current signs to the bus rather than stopping at the first terminal 2 sign.
Likewise, connecting between different 2-halls can involve walking or an airline-directed transfer route. This guide does not assign a specific airside bus or security path without your actual flights. Ask the airline before leaving a secure area unnecessarily.
Operating hours are not a connection guarantee
RATP lists automated CDGVAL service from 4 am to 1 am, with a bus taking over at night. That does not mean a train is running throughout the night or that every replacement trip takes the same time. Check current operation when planning an early or late transfer.
The published short shuttle journey is only the vehicle part. Add the route to the stop, waiting, baggage collection where needed, immigration, security and the next airline's deadlines. There is no universal safe connection time for every pair of flights.
Before moving between flights
Confirm whether your bags are checked to the final destination and whether boarding passes are issued. Ask the airline which route applies and what happens if the first flight is late, especially on separate tickets. A free shuttle does not by itself establish protection for the onward flight.
If the route requires entering France, check the actual entry requirements for your passport and trip before relying on the plan. This article does not give visa clearance. Keep both flight details available offline and follow airport staff if operations change.
For luggage and reduced mobility
RATP describes CDGVAL trains and stations as equipped for reduced mobility. Check the entire journey, including terminal halls, buses, security and assistance at both flights. An accessible shuttle is not proof that every transfer is independently manageable.
Arrange airline or airport assistance when needed and confirm the meeting point. Keep enough help for the cases and do not assume the terminal shuttle provides a luggage porter.
