- No flight, no train
- Hoi An has neither; road is the only way
- Bus 02
- 30,000 VND full route, every 15-30 min
- Airport bus
- Hai Van, 120,000 VND from the terminal
- Grab fixed fare
- 305,000-350,000 VND per 4-seat car
- Late arrivals
- after 10:15 pm: Grab or taxi only
Search for a flight or train from Da Nang to Hoi An and you will find nothing, because Hoi An has no airport and no railway station. Every one of the 30 km between them is travelled by road. The good news: the road options are cheap, frequent and simple, and a 2026 city guide has priced them all from operator sources. Here is the menu that actually makes sense.
Public bus 02: the budget answer
Route 02 runs Da Nang Central Bus Station to the Hai Ba Trung parking lot in Hoi An, 30 trips each way, every 15 to 30 minutes, first bus 5:15 am, last 6:30 pm. The full route costs 30,000 VND (about $1), and since August 2026 the buses are electric. From the Hoi An stop it is a 15-minute walk to the Japanese Covered Bridge. Fine with a backpack; awkward with suitcases.
From the airport: two dedicated services
Landing at Da Nang airport, the Hai Van airport bus runs from outside the terminals for 120,000 VND per person (children under 6 half price). The Barri Ann shared shuttle sells seats from $6 in a 16-seat van, leaving the airport 11 times a day between 7:00 am and 10:15 pm, about 90 minutes with hotel drop-offs. The shuttle guide has the detail.
Grab and taxis: door to door
Grab publishes a fixed fare for this exact route: a 4-seat car comes to about 305,000 to 350,000 VND including the platform fee for the usual 27 to 30 km, and a 6-seater runs a little more. Xanh SM's fixed airport list shows 350,000 VND to Hoi An and 300,000 VND coming back. Traditional taxis such as Mai Linh quote on the meter; the airport's own reference table lists about $16.7 for a 5-seat taxi. Per car, not per person: for three or four people, one Grab beats four shuttle seats.
What actually makes sense
- Solo, light bag, daytime: bus 02, 30,000 VND.
- Landing at the airport, daytime: Hai Van bus (120,000 VND) or the shuttle (from $6).
- Family with luggage, any hour: one Grab car, 305,000 to 350,000 VND, door to door.
- After 10:15 pm: the shuttle has stopped; Grab or a taxi is the answer.
