Illustration: a fictional family discusses an accessible route beside a lift at a generic metro entrance. This is not an actual Delhi station or a verified working exit.
For parents who need a lift, check the specific station entrance, the street side and the whole route to the platform before leaving. "The station has a lift" is not enough to identify the useful exit or establish that the equipment is working when you travel. Check your destination station and any change as well as your starting station.
Start with the official access list, not a guessed gate
DMRC publishes an entry/exit access PDF for Divyangjan. Its columns distinguish the entry/exit gate or lift used to access a station, any lift inside the gates needed to reach the AFC area, and the street-side location or landmark. Those are different fields, not interchangeable gate numbers.
Use the row for the exact station and line as a location lead. Preserve whether the entry is called a gate or a lift; do not rewrite "Lift No." as "Gate No.". An internal-lift column is not by itself a street entrance. A dash or "Not Required" in one column should not be expanded into a claim about the entire station journey.
The filename ends in 6-03-21, but the retrieved content did not establish that as a publication or effective date. It is not a live lift-status feed. Current gate access and working condition remain unconfirmed until checked for your journey. Do not copy a listed number into a taxi instruction without checking the actual street location.
Read the facilities page as a feature list, not a live guarantee
The official facilities page describes features including lifts, ramps, wider automatic gates and staff assistance. The retrieved page is undated. It does not establish that every approach, interchange or lift on your particular route is available now, or that individual assistance has been reserved for your family.
The supplied travel-advisory page could not be retrieved in this review. No current outage-free route is certified here. Ask about temporary closures or maintenance rather than treating the absence of a notice in this article as an all-clear.
An exit-wise worksheet for the whole journey
This original template is for recording actual answers, not a station map or inspected access certificate. Keep the source, check time and unresolved parts with the plan.
| Part | What to record or confirm |
|---|---|
| Station identity | Exact station name, line and intended direction. At a change, identify both line sections. |
| Street access | Gate or lift identifier exactly as named; road side, landmark and practical drop-off approach. |
| Inside route | Street to concourse, security/ticketing and the correct platform. Ask which lifts are needed for each level change. |
| Destination exit | The lift route out to the side needed for your actual hotel, home or pickup, including the remaining walk. |
| Working status | What staff confirmed for the planned travel time, when you checked and any known maintenance or closure. |
| Fallback | An alternative accessible approach or different travel plan if any essential lift is unavailable. Do not assume an escalator is suitable. |
If a detail is not established, write "unconfirmed" rather than filling a likely gate number. A saved screenshot of an old list is useful evidence of what it said, not a fresh equipment check.
Ask a question that gets an exit-level answer
Use the official DMRC contact route and ask how to confirm with the relevant station. Its contact page lists helpline 155370 and says calls are chargeable to the caller. That undated listing is not a promise of a free call, immediate response or a reserved staff escort.
Suggested question: "We plan to use [station and line] around [date/time]. My parent needs a lift and cannot manage [the relevant barrier]. Which street-side entrance or lift should we approach? Is the full route to [direction/platform] available using lifts? Are the required lifts expected to be working then? What should we do if one is out of service?"
For the destination, add the exact address or pickup side and ask about the route from platform to street. If using a wheelchair or other mobility aid, describe the actual aid and assistance needed. Do not assume that a general accessibility label settles boarding, doorway clearance or the remaining street walk.
Turn the answer into a family handover
Share the confirmed station, line, street landmark, intended entrance and unresolved points with the person arranging transport. A driver pin near the station name may not identify the useful lift approach. Ask the driver to confirm the practical drop-off point, not to stop wherever the station first appears.
Recheck essential working-status information close to the journey and ask staff again if signs or barriers contradict the plan. Keep the family together while one person asks. If the required lift is unavailable and the alternative is unsuitable, change the plan instead of pressuring a parent onto stairs or an escalator.
For a multi-stage airport-to-railway journey, read the whole-transfer comparison too. A manageable station entrance does not settle terminal access, every change or the final railway-platform approach.
Reviewed 6 November 2026. Official public access documents and contact pages were reviewed; no station visit, lift test, assistance booking or call was made. No particular Delhi Metro exit is certified as working or step-free here. Obtain journey-specific confirmation and keep an alternative plan.
