Delhi to Phu Quoc: verify the actual flight, then the mainland connection
For a Delhi-Phu Quoc holiday, start by checking whether your dates have a usable nonstop itinerary. If not, compare a properly planned connection via Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City. Road and ferry are a different mainland journey, not a clever replacement for an island flight. The cheapest-looking first leg is not the whole trip when bags, immigration, terminal changes and the last boat still have to work.
A route page is not a nonstop schedule
Vietjet's own India-to-Vietnam and flights-from-India pages display New Delhi-Phu Quoc offers. That establishes a marketed city pair, not the number of stops, operating days or current seat inventory for your date. Open the actual itinerary and read every segment before calling it direct. The airline says displayed fares were collected within the last 24 hours, are one-way/web-only, exclude checked baggage and are not available on every flight or day. A route-page teaser is not the final family fare.
A Voice of Vietnam article dated 26 November 2025 announced direct Delhi-Phu Quoc charter flights from 9 December, describing roughly five hours of flying. That is a 2025 charter announcement, not a new December 2026 launch or proof that an independently bookable daily scheduled flight is operating now. Confirm the operating airline, flight number, dates, charter/package restrictions, baggage and ticket conditions with the seller. No live nonstop schedule or date-specific fare is claimed in this guide.
If connecting, choose the whole chain
Vietnam Tourism identifies flights to Phu Quoc from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and abroad. For a mainland connection, compare one-ticket and separate-ticket options by the actual conditions, not airline logos alone. Ask whether baggage is checked through, where immigration and customs take place, whether you must collect and recheck bags, which terminals are used and what happens if the first flight is late. A shared airline name does not by itself make separate tickets protected.
Do not invent a universal minimum connection time. The workable gap depends on the airport, terminals, bags, immigration, ticket protection and the people travelling. With parents or children, a later connection or a planned overnight can be more useful than a tight itinerary that works only if everything is early. Check both arrival dates and local times; an overnight leg may change the hotel night you need. No same-day connection is endorsed without an actual itinerary.
The visa question follows the route, not the island slogan
Vietnam Airlines' travel-document page describes a Phu Quoc exemption for eligible foreign arrivals staying up to 30 days and specific transit cases continuing from an international border gate. It also warns that domestic segments can require a transit visa. The island tourism page describes remaining in the transit area for the relevant connection. Those conditions cannot be reduced to "Phu Quoc is visa-free, so every Delhi-Hanoi-Phu Quoc ticket is fine."
Ask the airline and official immigration channel to confirm eligibility for your passport and exact routing, particularly if you collect bags, change terminals landside, stay overnight or visit the mainland. Do not rely on a travel blog promising a quick on-island visa conversion after arrival. The Immigration Department's portal points applications to evisa.gov.vn and thithucdientu.gov.vn. Follow the official route for an entry permission you actually need, and verify the approved dates and entry point before travel. This guide does not decide an individual traveller's visa eligibility.
Road and ferry are a mainland itinerary, not an all-road island transfer
Vietnam Tourism lists ferries from Ha Tien and Rach Gia. Superdong's own site links its online booking system; that system publishes mainland-island sailings and warns departure times can change with tides and weather. Build the chain as mainland arrival, road transfer to the correct port, ferry check-in, sailing and island-port-to-hotel transfer. Do not assume a train reaches the island or a car journey removes the sea crossing.
The published schedule is not live stock or a promise that a late flight will meet the last ferry. Confirm the date, port, reporting time, baggage, passenger details, cancellation/weather policy and the island arrival port. If the mainland journey is itself part of the holiday, road-and-ferry may be worth comparing. If the purpose is a short island break from Delhi, extra ports and transfers need a real reason, not an unsupported claim that they save money. No current ferry fare or mainland driving time was established here.
What to compare before paying
Compare the final total for everyone with the bags and seats you need, the arrival date, complete door-to-door chain, refund/change conditions and the entry-document plan. A nonstop, if actually sold for your dates, usually removes a connection to manage; a mainland connection may offer a workable schedule but adds operational questions. Neither is the winner until the actual itinerary is read. Book the hotel nights around confirmed arrival and departure, not a headline flying-time estimate.

Checked 31 October 2026. Marketed route pages and a 2025 charter announcement are not a live nonstop search. No date-specific fare, seat inventory, protected connection or individual visa eligibility was established.
