How much should an Indian couple budget for Rann of Kutch? Hotels, transport and activities

No official page publishes a Rann of Kutch budget, so we are not printing one. This is how to build yours in four lines, using quotes for your dates.

Rann of Kutch prices swing with the dates, the stay and the festival season, and we found no official page that publishes a budget. So there is no number here. Instead, here is the sheet to fill in, with the one distance that drives your transport cost.

1. The one confirmed number

Incredible India puts Dhordo 81 km from Bhuj, about 1 hour 20 minutes by road. Your transport line is built on that, plus however you reach Bhuj. For that first leg, see our Ahmedabad to Rann of Kutch guide.

2. The four lines

  • Stay: Ask for three quotes for your exact dates. Ask what the rate includes: meals, pickup, activities, taxes.
  • Transport: Train or flight to Bhuj, then a car to Dhordo and back. Get the car quote in writing, with tolls and waiting time.
  • Activities: Incredible India lists ATV and Segway rides and Kala Dungar tours at the festival site, without prices. Ask for each price before you book.
  • Permit and extras: Gujarat Tourism points to an online White Rann permit at rannpermit.gujarat.gov.in. Check the fee on the site. Then add food, shopping and a buffer.

3. A way to compare

Make three columns: lean, middle, comfortable. Fill each from a real quote, not a guess. If a quote does not say what is included, ask until it does. Compare the total per night and for the whole trip.

4. Where couples overspend

  • Booking the nearest tent for convenience and then adding a car for every outing.
  • Paying for several activities in one day when light is the real draw.
  • Ignoring the cost of the return transfer.
