- Distance
- About 18 km from Jaisalmer city (Rajasthan Tourism)
- What it is
- Village abandoned in the 1800s, uninhabited, left as it was
- Steps, ramps, seating
- No official information found
- Restrooms, opening hours
- Not published on pages we checked
Kuldhara is a ruined village. That alone tells you the ground matters more than the monument: uneven lanes, no lift, no indoor seating to count on. Whether it suits your parents depends on what the site actually offers, and we could not find that on an official page.
1. What Rajasthan Tourism says
- Kuldhara is about 18 km from Jaisalmer city.
- It is an old town the villagers left in the 1800s, and it has been uninhabited since, in the state they left it.
- The page tells the legend of the villagers who vanished overnight. It treats the story as a mystery, not as fact.
2. What we could not confirm
We found no official page that covers steps, ramps, paved paths, seating, shade, restroom access, opening hours or a ticket price for Kuldhara. We have not photographed or surveyed the site, so we will not describe it. We also did not find an official note on where vehicles can stop.
3. How to check before you go
- Ask your stay, or the driver you plan to use, three plain questions: how far is the walk from where the car stops, are there steps, and is there a restroom.
- Ask whether the lanes are paved or sand and stone.
- Ask for the closing time, so you do not arrive at the end.
4. If the walk looks hard
- Stay at the entrance and look in. You see the layout without the walking.
- Take one parent for the full circuit and keep the other with the car and water.
- Swap in Amar Sagar Lake, about 7 km from the city, or Vyas Chhatri at Bada Bagh, both listed by Rajasthan Tourism. Check access for those too, since we found no official detail for them either.
5. Practical
- 18 km each way is short, but keep the car waiting.
- Carry water and a hat. We have no official figure for shade at the site.
- Keep the stop for a cooler part of the day, and make it the only big stop that day.
