- Airport
- None at Ranthambore. Jaipur is the closest (Rajasthan Tourism)
- Jaipur airport to Sawai Madhopur
- 150-170 km on one page, 175 km on another
- Jaipur to Ranthambore by road
- About 180 km, 3 hours (Rajasthan Tourism itinerary)
- Park from Sawai Madhopur
- 14 km (Rajasthan Tourism)
Ranthambore has no airport and no rail station of its own. The town and rail head is Sawai Madhopur, and the park is 14 km from it. So "Jaipur to Ranthambore" is really Jaipur to Sawai Madhopur, then a short hop to the park. We used official pages and say where they disagree. We did not check live train timetables, so do that before you book.
1. The facts the official pages give
- Rajasthan Tourism says Jaipur airport is the closest, at 150-170 km from Sawai Madhopur. A Rajasthan Tourism hotel page says 175 km. The pages do not agree, so treat it as roughly 150-175 km.
- Rajasthan Tourism's sample itinerary lists Jaipur to Ranthambore at 180 km and about 3 hours by road.
- Sawai Madhopur has its own railway station. Rajasthan Tourism says it sits on the Jaipur - Sawai Madhopur railway line, and Ranthambore Fort and its Trinetra Ganesh temple are about 15 km from the district headquarters.
- Rajasthan Tourism says state buses, private buses and taxis connect Sawai Madhopur to major cities.
- The park is 14 km from Sawai Madhopur. Local bus, taxi or cab reach it.
2. The combinations
| Chain | What it means | Catch |
|---|---|---|
| Road all the way | Taxi from Jaipur, about 180 km and 3 hours per the itinerary | You set the start time. Ask the driver to confirm the time for your day and traffic |
| Train to Sawai Madhopur | Train from Jaipur or another city, then a taxi or jeep to your hotel or the park gate | Schedules and fares are not on the official tourism pages. Check IRCTC or the railway enquiry before you commit |
| Fly to Jaipur, then road | Land at Jaipur and take a taxi, roughly 150-175 km | Add airport exit time. A morning arrival leaves room for a safari the next day, not the same day |
| Fly to Jaipur, then train | Airport to the station in Jaipur, then train | Two transfers. It works only if the timings line up, which you must check |
3. How to pick
- Want the fewest moving parts: taxi from Jaipur and be done in one leg.
- Want to avoid a long drive: take a train to Sawai Madhopur. The official pages say a train from Bharatpur takes just over two hours, which gives a sense of the scale. We have no Jaipur train time to quote.
- Arriving by air: plan the drive, not a train, unless the timetable clearly fits.
- Safari is the point of the trip, so do not arrive on the morning you want a drive. Book safari seats first.
4. What we could not confirm
- Live train times and fares between Jaipur and Sawai Madhopur.
- Bus timings and fares.
- Taxi prices. No official figure is published.
