The airport terminal, metro station and mainline platform are separate parts of the transfer. Choose around luggage and the train’s departure, not a metro ride time alone.
Confirm the mainline station and terminal
Read the issued train ticket for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, then check whether your flight arrives at T1 or T2. Do not confuse CSMT railway station with the airport’s similar full name or a metro station label. Save the train number, departure time and station entrance instructions offline.
Line 3 is a current route to check
MMRCL’s line page checked on 26 October 2026 lists the T1 and T2 airport metro stations and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Metro as open on Line 3. That is a current source snapshot, not a guarantee for a future date. Use the current journey planner and operating information for the actual day; do not reuse an old claim that the line stops in the suburbs.
Count both ends of the metro journey
Include reaching the correct airport metro entrance, ticketing and security, waiting for a train, exiting at CSMT Metro and reaching the mainline departure platform. MMRCL’s first/last-mile page lists CSMT Terminus separately from CSMT Heritage with different access distances. Do not use a sightseeing landmark pin as proof of the quickest mainline entry.
A taxi reduces carrying, not traffic uncertainty
With heavy bags or a tired group, compare a taxi to the actual railway entrance. The airport transport page lists taxi and car-rental options. Confirm pickup instructions, vehicle size and the full quote. The driver cannot promise the platform or remove traffic; allow time for unloading and finding your coach after the road journey.
Protect the train connection
Work backward from the railway departure, adding time for flight arrival processes and every transfer step. If a delay leaves too little margin, compare changing the train with the cost of rushing across the city. This guide gives no universal flight-to-train minimum, current fare, last metro or guaranteed station walking time.
