Planning Gardens by the Bay and Sentosa in one trip: timing, ticketing and hidden complications

The right pairing, done wrong by most itineraries. Which day gets what, the dome closure dates that wreck fixed plans, and what to book ahead for a smooth Singapore trip.

Gardens by the Bay and Sentosa are the two halves of almost every Singapore family itinerary, and combining them in one trip is absolutely the right call. What goes wrong is rarely the pairing - it is the timing: dome closures nobody checked, a Universal Studios day that eats the Sentosa evening, and a light show missed by ten minutes. This guide lays out how to sequence the two, what to book ahead, and the small complications that catch Indian families out.

Questions on this article

asked by readers, answered by us

Can you do Gardens by the Bay and Sentosa on the same day?

Not sensibly. Sentosa needs a full day (Universal Studios alone is one), and Gardens by the Bay deserves an unhurried 4pm-to-evening slot ending with the 7:45pm or 8:45pm light show. Put them on separate days - they connect easily by MRT, so order does not matter.

How much are Gardens by the Bay tickets in 2026?

For non-residents, the Flower Dome + Cloud Forest combo is S$46 per adult and S$32 per child. Cloud Forest is not sold on its own to non-residents. The outdoor gardens, Supertree Grove and the nightly Garden Rhapsody light show are free.

When are the Gardens by the Bay domes closed for maintenance?

Each conservatory closes about one day a month, on different dates - the upcoming ones are Flower Dome on 16 November 2026 and Cloud Forest on 17 November 2026. Always check the official closure calendar against your travel dates before booking.

How much time do you need at Sentosa?

One full day minimum, two ideally: one for Universal Studios (dated tickets from about S$76) and one for the beaches, Fort Siloso Skywalk and the Wings of Time evening show. Entry via the Sentosa Express is S$4, with free transport on the island.

Is the Gardens by the Bay light show free?

Yes. Garden Rhapsody at Supertree Grove is free, running nightly at 7:45pm and 8:45pm - no ticket needed. Just arrive 15-20 minutes early for a good lawn spot.

What is the best order for a first Singapore trip?

A relaxed four-night version: evening Marina Bay and light show on arrival day, Universal Studios on day 2, Gardens domes plus Garden Rhapsody on day 3, Sentosa beaches and Wings of Time on day 4. Keep mornings after Sentosa days unscheduled.
