Udaipur airport to Lake Pichola: taxis, buses and what to check before landing

1. What the airport lists

• A pre-paid taxi counter.
• A city bus service, available outside the airport.
• Uber, with a kiosk in the arrival area on the city side.
• Inter-state taxi and car service is also listed as available.

2. Distance

The airport's own aerodrome data puts it 20 km from Udaipur City Railway Station. Rajasthan Tourism pages give about 22 to 25 km from the city centre. Lake Pichola is in the old town, so plan on roughly that distance. We have no official drive time, because it depends on the hour and traffic.

3. Before you pay

• Use the pre-paid counter if you want a fixed price. Ask the amount, the car type and whether tolls and luggage are included before you pay.
• Tell them your exact drop point. Parts of the old town near the lake are narrow, so ask whether the car can reach your stay's door or stops at a nearby road, and arrange a short walk or a pickup from there.
• Ask your stay if they send a car and what they charge. Compare it with the counter.
• If you use the city bus, confirm the stop for your area, since we found no official route list for Lake Pichola.

4. Once you reach the lake

• Incredible India describes Lake Pichola as one of Udaipur's oldest and largest lakes, created in 1362.
• It says the island Jag Mandir palace is reached only by boat from the Bansi Ghat pier.
• We found no official boat fare or timing, so ask at the jetty on the day.

5. Landing late

Check your flight's arrival time against your stay's check-in desk. Ask whether the pre-paid counter and the stay's gate are staffed at night. We have no official night timings.
