March to May has the best weather countrywide, according to Vietnam Tourism. Vietnam has three climate zones, so the best time depends on where you go: the north is best in April to June and September to December, the central coast is driest from February to August, and the south is driest from December to April. Vietnam uses the dong (VND). ATMs that accept international cards are just outside arrival gates at all major airports, and most hotels, restaurants and tour operators accept international cards. Carry some cash for small purchases and remote places, and pack for the region and month you travel in.
