Winter is the easy season in Banswara. The days are warm, the nights are cool, and the rain is gone. The trade-off is that the gap between day and night is wide.
1. The numbers
| Month | Range (Incredible India) |
|---|---|
| November | 14.1 to 33.3 C |
| December | 11.0 to 31.4 C |
| January | 10.7 to 32.3 C |
| February | 13.3 to 36.0 C |
A Rajasthan groundwater atlas for the district says the winter season runs from November to February, with winter minimums of 8 to 12 C. It also says the district is dry except during the south-west monsoon, and that the post-monsoon season runs from mid-September to the end of November. Incredible India calls October to March the pleasant window for sightseeing.
2. What this means
- Days reach the low to mid 30s C, so midday outdoors is warm. Do the dam, the weir and the temple in the morning.
- Nights can be in single digits to low teens, so a layer for early starts and evenings.
- Rain is not a winter issue. The monsoon months are July to September, when waterfalls and the dam spillway are the draw (Incredible India). The reservoir is fullest after the monsoon.
3. Month by month
- November: the warmest nights of the four, and the tail of the post-monsoon green.
- December and January: the coolest. Early outings need a layer.
- February: warming fast, with highs up to 36.0 C. Keep afternoons indoors.
4. What to pack
- A light jacket or shawl, a cap, sunscreen and water.
- Comfortable closed shoes for the wall road at the dam and temple steps.
5. Not published
Fog days, sunrise and sunset times, and crowd levels by month were not found on official pages, so we do not state them. For temple crowding, Incredible India only notes that Navratri draws thousands.
