You land at Bhubaneswar, but your hotel is at Puri beach. The last bit is a road trip, and the first ten minutes at arrivals decide whether it is easy or an argument. Here is what is on record and what to confirm.
1. Where the taxi counter is
The Airports Authority of India page for Bhubaneswar lists a prepaid taxi counter on the city side, in front of the Arrival Hall at Terminal 1, run with the Commissionerate of Police, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack. A 2019 news report from OdishaTV says the police, the Airport Taxi Association and the airport jointly manage it, to protect passengers from unreasonable fares. That report is old, so check that the counter is working when you land.
2. How far you are going
The Puri district tourism page gives 60 km from the airport to Puri. Odisha Tourism says the airport is about 6 km from the Bhubaneswar city centre and that taxi, cab and bus services run from the airport to Puri. 3. Costs
We found no official, dated fare for this route, so we will not print a number. Ask the prepaid counter for the price for your destination, ask whether it covers tolls and waiting, and get a receipt. If you use an app cab, check the quote in the app before you confirm.
4. Before you land
- Write down your hotel name and its area, not just "Puri beach", since the stretch is long.
- Tell the hotel your arrival time so someone is awake.
- Keep the counter slip until you reach the hotel.
- If you land late, confirm that the counter and your hotel check-in both work at that hour.
5. If the taxi does not suit you
