- Jorhat Airport (Rowriah), run by the Airports Authority of India

- Ask your hotel for pickup and a fixed price
Jorhat's airport is not a long drive from the town it serves. That makes the transfer easy, and it also makes people careless about it. A short ride still goes wrong if the price is vague, the driver cannot find your hotel or your flight lands at night. This guide covers the few things worth settling before you land.
1. The airport is inside the city
The Jorhat District administration says Jorhat Airport, commonly called Rowriah Airport, is located within the city itself. The Airports Authority of India lists it as Jorhat Airport, Jorhat-785005, Assam. So expect a town transfer, not an hour on a highway. One private cab operator's page quotes about 7 km and roughly 15 minutes. Treat that as a guide, not a promise, because traffic and your hotel's exact location decide the real time.
2. What the fare might look like
We found no official taxi tariff for this route, so we will not invent one. One cab operator publishes a chart for Jorhat airport to the city, with sedans from ₹500, larger SUVs higher, and toll and parking included. Read that as a rough marker only. The price you pay is whatever you agree with your driver or operator. Ask for the total, ask what is included, and ask whether there is a night or waiting charge.
3. Pre-book or find a cab at the airport
Pre-booking gives you a name, a number and a price before you land. That matters if you arrive late or travel with parents. If you would rather decide on arrival, walk to the taxi area, confirm the destination and fare out loud before you get in, and keep your hotel's phone number handy. Neither route is wrong. Having no plan is.
4. Ask your hotel first
Many hotels will arrange a pickup or tell you what a fair fare is. Send a short message with your flight number and ask three things: can you arrange a car, what is the usual fare, and what is the address or landmark to give the driver. Save the reply on your phone.
5. Check before you land
- Flight arrival time, and whether it is after dark.
- Hotel address and a working phone number.
- Cash and UPI, in case the driver prefers one.
- How many bags you have, since a small sedan fills up fast.
Our checklist
Confirm the fare in writing, share the hotel address with the driver, take a photo of the cab number and keep your phone charged. This guide uses the Jorhat District page and the Airports Authority of India airport page checked on 30 October 2026, plus one private operator's published chart, labelled as such. Fares and services change, so confirm them yourself.
