Stop before security or boarding and compare the pass with the airline’s current booking record. A saved pass from an earlier trip, another flight segment or the day before is not proof that today’s booking is wrong. But a genuinely wrong booking date is not fixed by editing the pass image.

Read the date for this flight, not the whole trip
Open the airline website or app yourself. Check the passenger, departure airport, destination, flight number and departure date together. Compare them with the pass you are holding. On an overnight itinerary, the next flight can leave on a different calendar day. Use the local departure date shown for that segment rather than the date when you started travelling.
Download the pass again from the airline
IndiGo’s official boarding-pass page lets you retrieve a pass using the booking reference and the requested email or surname. It recommends carrying a printed or soft copy before reaching the airport. Use the current booking to retrieve the right flight’s pass, then put the old screenshot away so you do not present it by mistake. Do not change the printed date, flight number or barcode yourself.
If the current booking is wrong, ask for a booking change
A fresh download cannot move a flight to another day. Check the airline or booking agent’s change options and the fare rules. Air India’s booking FAQ says online changes depend on the fare and can incur fees. Availability, fare difference and a fee waiver must be checked for your booking; noticing a date error does not establish a free correction.
Already at the airport? Find airline staff now
Show staff the current booking confirmation and the pass with the mismatch. Ask which flight you are actually checked in for and whether they can issue the correct pass or need a booking change first. If a travel agent issued the ticket, keep its booking confirmation available. A security queue is not the place to wait for the issue to sort itself out.
A corrected pass does not reset the deadlines
After the airline confirms the correction, check the date, terminal, flight and passenger again. Recheck bag drop and boarding deadlines. IndiGo’s carriage terms distinguish checking in from reaching the gate on time: a boarding pass alone does not guarantee boarding. Do not assume staff can reopen a closed gate because the pass had an error.
What to say at the counter
“My booking and this boarding pass show different departure dates. Please check the airline record, confirm which flight I am checked in for, and tell me whether I need a new pass or a booking change.” Do not post a full pass or booking reference publicly when asking for help.
Quick questions
Can I change the date on the PDF myself? No. Ask the airline to confirm the booking and issue the correct pass.
Will downloading again change my flight date? No. It retrieves a pass; changing the booking is a separate process.
Is correcting a wrong booking date always free? No. The fare rules, availability and any approved waiver control.
Can I still miss boarding after getting a new pass? Yes. The applicable airport and gate deadlines still matter.
