April to June is one of Jeju's two best windows (September-November is the other), but the three months are not interchangeable. April is the flower month, May is the warm-dry sweet spot, and June splits in two - a lovely first half and a wet second half once the monsoon arrives. All figures below are the Korea Meteorological Administration's official 1991-2020 climate normals for Jeju City (station 184), so they describe what is typical, not what a specific week will do.
The month-by-month picture
April: average high 18.0C, low 10.8C, rainfall 89.7mm over about 9 rainy days. Jeju gets Korea's earliest cherry blossoms - the season peaks around late March into early April, with the Jeju Cherry Blossom Festival listed for April 4-6 by the island's tourism organisation - and canola flower fields run through the month. Pack layers and a light jacket; evenings are genuinely cool.
May: high 22.1C, low 15.0C, rainfall 95.6mm. This is the best weather-for-effort month: warm enough for the coast, dry enough to plan outdoor days, and before any hint of monsoon. The catch is crowds, not weather - Korea's early-May holiday cluster (Children's Day falls on May 5) fills flights, hotels and the Udo ferry with domestic travellers.
June: high 24.9C, low 19.1C, but rainfall jumps to 171.2mm over about 12 rainy days. The reason is jangma, the East Asian monsoon: KMA's long-term average has it starting on Jeju around June 19 and running to about July 20, delivering roughly 348.7mm in that stretch alone. Early June is still a good bet - warm, greener, and quieter than May; late June is a rain bet.
Crowds and what actually sells out
Three demand spikes matter in this window. The cherry blossom weeks (late March into early April) pack the blossom streets of Jeju City and the island's main photo spots. The first week of May is Korea's family travel week, when Jeju is one of the country's most popular domestic escapes. And May weekends generally bring Korean school trip season. What sells out first, in order: the cheap LCC flight seats from Gimpo (book two to four weeks ahead, per jeju-escape's 2026 fare guide - details in our Seoul to Jeju flights guide), then Jungmun resort rooms for holiday weekends, then rental cars on peak dates.
If your dates fall in the May holiday period, book flights and rooms before anything else and treat the rest as flexible. For costs by category, our Jeju couple's budget has current hotel and food figures.
Trade-offs, honestly
Wind is the unglamorous trade-off of Jeju spring: the island is breezy year-round and spring days on exposed coastal spots like Seongsan Ilchulbong's rim feel several degrees colder than the town. Rain is the other: even April and May average 9-10 days with some rain, so build in one flexible indoor day rather than a minute-by-minute plan. The upside worth the trade: no typhoon risk to plan around - that season belongs to late August and September - and the island at its most photogenic.
What to pack
Layers for a 10-22C swing (April evenings near the coast feel properly cold), a packable rain jacket rather than an umbrella (the wind wins), comfortable walking shoes that can take wet stone steps, and sunscreen - Jeju's UV is stronger than the temperature suggests. Our 3-day Jeju itinerary shows how these months slot into an actual plan, including the senior-friendly pacing for Seongsan Ilchulbong.
